Community Associate
Why this role is made for you:
We are seeking a full-time Community Associate to join our growing team. You will work alongside our Marketing, Design, Production, QA, Engineering, and Support teams to build, grow and manage the online communities for Hempire, the world’s best cannabis mobile game. These communities are hosted on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, Discord, Slack, and the internal forums via KT Play.
The ideal candidate is deeply empathetic, a great communicator (both verbal and written), enjoys mobile games and is either already familiar with, or wants to learn more about cannabis culture. Creativity and organization will be required to craft announcements and competitions. Objectivity and compassion will be key to drafting and evolving policies for our communities, and to mitigate interpersonal conflicts that may arise.
You will become an expert on our games, and represent the company in the community, as well as advocate player feedback to our development team.
Due to the pandemic, we’re currently allowing working from home, but have also made ample accommodations at our studio to ensure proper social distancing and cleaning of commonly used surfaces. Core hours for the Community team are Monday-Friday 10-4pm, with remaining tasks to be completed on a case-by-case basis. As Hempire is a live game, issues and tasks regularly come up outside core hours, so our ideal candidate is someone who thrives on a flexible schedule and is both accountable and self-driven.
A Community Associate’s impact:
- Reporting to our Community Manager on a variety of player-focused activities
- Adopt and maintain the key messages of the Hempire product and team—responsible, legal growth and consumption of cannabis and cannabis products
- Engage the community in-game, via social networks, and possibly at conventions
- Become an expert on our games
- Be attentive to customer needs and concerns; demonstrate empathy and tact
- Meet customer requirements through the first-contact resolution
- Confirm customer understanding of the solution and provide additional customer education as needed
- Pro-actively inform other departments of potential issues and offer solutions to assist with problems
- Represent the players in discussions with the production team
- Occasionally write, publish, and manage community-oriented content (news, devblogs, changelogs, surveys, etc.)
- Write and edit publicity material, articles, and reports
Your track record includes:
- Previous experience in the gaming industry preferred
- 1+ years of customer service and/or community-management experience
- Experience in the online space: social media channels, forums, websites, IRC etc.
- Bonus for experience as a moderator.
- Able to adopt appropriate tone and style in different messaging as required – from forums to blogs to tweets
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Must have working knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Spreadsheets, etc.)
- Graphic design skills, and experience with the Adobe Suite are a plus (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere)
- Experience working remotely is a plus
- Experience with cannabis and the cannabis community is a plus
Compensation Package:
- Downtown office, steps from the Skytrain
- Fully stocked pantry & fridge, coffee, and beer
- Monthly Socials and Team-building Activities
- Flexible scheduling
- Remote-work possibilities
- Competitive compensation
- Growth and team-focused company culture
- Access to a health-spending account in lieu of benefits
