The swarm

A living carpet of teeth.

The Skitter are the planets' native fauna, and they do not stop. Thousands pour across the map at once, flow around your rocks and walls, and chew through whatever they reach: your turrets, your harvesters, your Nexus.

  • ScuttlerThe swarmer. Weak alone, endless together.
  • DarterFast and fragile. It gets past what you did not cover.
  • ShieldbackArmoured and heavy. It soaks up fire so the rest can pass.
  • SpitterHits you from range, so walls alone will not save you.
  • QueenLeads the final wave. Make it count.

Thousands on screen at once

Build the line

Ten seconds to dig in.

Place towers anywhere on the battlefield, wall off the approach and funnel the swarm into your kill zone. Send harvesters to the crystal fields to pay for it all, then decide: economy or firepower?

Hold the line

Machine gun

Cheap, fast and everywhere. Shreds the front of the carpet.

Cannon

Heavy shells that blow holes in packed groups and armour alike.

Flamer

A cone of fire for the chokepoint. Nothing crosses it quietly.

Arc tower

Lightning that jumps from enemy to enemy, hitting a whole cluster.

Upgrade tiers

Level a tower and it evolves.

Every tower grows through three marks. New bodies, new guns and a new way of firing, so a veteran line looks and sounds nothing like day one.

Mk 1

Standard issue

Machine gun
Plain tracer fire.
Cannon
A standard shell and blast.
Flamer
A classic orange jet.
Arc
A single bolt chaining through the swarm.

Mk 2

Refitted

Machine gun
Two white-hot fanned streams.
Cannon
A gold shell on a short trail, with a double ring blast.
Flamer
A tight blue plasma jet with embers.
Arc
Electric green, five forks.

Mk 3

Prototype

Machine gun
Three rose streams round a white core.
Cannon
A violet plasma shell on a long trail, with a triple ring blast.
Flamer
A broad violet plasma sweep.
Arc
Violet, six forks and the widest strike of all.

Harvesters

Drive out to glowing crystal fields and pay crystal every second. The richest fields sit closest to the swarm.

Drones

Hunters strafe the thickest swarm, Guardians watch your harvesters, Menders repair, Gleaners collect the drops.

Walls

Pieces you drag out in a line. Bend the swarm's path, and repair what they chew.

Four planets

Mercy, Providence, Solace and Concord, each with its own layout, rock walls and chokepoints.

Three yellow Titan walkers firing six-barrel rotary guns

Titans

Call in walkers.

Spend your crystal on a Titan: a giant walker with two six-barrel rotary guns. Tap one to select it, tap the ground to march it into the fight, and watch the guns spin up and chew through the carpet.

A giant striped worm rising out of purple ground among the swarm

The Maw

Something large is below.

Something enormous moves under the sand. When it surfaces it wrecks your harvesters, towers, Titans and walls, and the whole swarm runs for cover. You get one warning.

Seismic event: the Maw is rising

Ultimates

Three buttons you save for the worst.

Pick your loadout before each landing, then time it right.

01

Tactical Nuke

Aim it at the thickest part of the swarm and wipe the field.

02

EMP Stasis

Freeze a whole field of enemies in place while your towers work.

03

Overdrive

Overclock every tower at once for a window of pure firepower.

Cards and packs

Draft. Rip. Upgrade.

Between waves, draft one of several cards for a boost that lasts the run. Open card packs to level up your turrets, drones and Titans, and spend what you salvage on a deep upgrade tree. Every run pays out, even a lost one.

Onyx

The voice in your headset.

Harrow Industries is an autonomous mining company with no people in it, and Onyx is its machine mind. She coaches you through your first landings, calls the threats, and tells you straight when it is going badly.

  • “Seismic contact. Something big is under us.”
  • “Final wave. There's a Queen with them.”
  • “Site secured. Good work, commander.”
